It’s your house, so you should be able to paint it however you like. Right? Technically, yes, but not if you’re planning to sell it.

You might recall from last year, which revealed how the right colors can have a significant impact on a home’s sale price. Most media coverage focused on the shocking discovery that homes with sell for $6,271 more than expected. And with good reason! That’s a lot of money.

But that’s not the only surprising fact about paint color that came out of the study’s analysis of 135,000 recently sold homes. In addition to discovering that light blue bathrooms can bring in an additional $2,786, and that red kitchens can knock $2,310 off a home’s sale price, the online real estate database also identified the worst . According to Zillow, houses painted yellow—anything from a creamy, bright yellow to a flax yellow—sold for $3,408 less than other homes.

So, keep in mind that painting your house yellow might not be the best investment if you’re planning to sell it anytime soon.
