The Golden Globes 2018 red carpet took a more sombre note this year. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment allegations, a new initiative, Time's Up, called for women to wear black on the Globes red carpet as a show of solidarity and to protest gender inequality. And, boy, did the women of Hollywood heed the call. Every single actress wore black.

Before you scroll down to the photos below, we'd recommend you look out for the following Golden Globes red carpet fashion highlights: Dakota Johnson and Margot Robbie both in Gucci, Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent and Kerry Washington in Prabal Gurung.

As well as making a huge statement, the red carpet black-out gave the stars a chance to experiment with their accessories. Take Maggie Gyllenhaal's collar bone-grazing pearl earrings, Kerry Washington's Roger Vivier floral-embellished boots and Zoe Kravitz's artful green statement earrings, as just a few examples.

As well as using black dresses (and a black trouser suit – we loved it, Claire Foy) to make a powerful point, eight actresses, including Meryl Streep, Emma Watson and Michelle Williams, brought activists as their ones to the event.
