Caribbean Wedding by the Sea
Jacqueline & Scott
Paradise Island, Bahamas
"The Ocean Club has the best of both worlds—European charm, plus the laid-back beach vibe everyone loves."
Jacqueline Long and Scott Owen said "I do" at One&Only Ocean Club, Paradise Island, Bahamas.
After getting engaged in Italy, the couple decided on a beach wedding with European flavor. "I wanted it to be whimsical and relaxed but elegant," says Jacqueline.
In keeping with the wedding palette, arriving guests were welcomed with pink lemonade. Many sported pastel-colored sunglasses from their welcome totes.
Hydrangeas, lisianthus, dendrobium, orchids, and roses decorated the ceremony. For the reception, colorful snapdragons, stargazers, and garden roses created "an enchanted garden" feel that Jacqueline wanted.
The Bride Wore
Jacqueline's gown and veil are by Monique Lhuillier. "It was very intricate, like a doily—light and perfect for the Bahamas," Jacqueline says of her romantic and beachy attire.
The Bridesmaids Wore
Jacqueline, who owns a small dress company, designed the flowy pastel attendants' dresses.
This tent in the Versailles Gardens had space for 142 guests. Tea lights on tables and hanging cantina lights filled the venue with an otherworldly glow.
A film the bride loves, My Father the Hero, was set at the Ocean Club. "We are big movie buffs and named our tables after favorites—Little Miss Sunshine, Father of the Bride, It's a Wonderful Life," she says.
A confetti cake by Swiss Pastry and tiny cones with Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream were crowd pleasers.
The couple chose Pink Sands on Harbour Island because it's "a tropical version of safari—horses on the beach, roosters everywhere, and tons of sea life."
