From Gigi Hadid for Valentino to Kiki Willems for Christopher Kane and Juliette Lewis for Acne Studios, catch up on the best spring summer 2018 fashion ad campaigns.
American actress and singer Juliette Lewis is the face of the latest Acnes Studios campaign. Shot by Talia Chetrit and styled by Vanessa Reid, Lewis is featured in a series of cinematic pictures that celebrate strong women. Acne Studios’ Creative Director Jonny Johansson explains: ‘For SS18 I was thinking about the strong women of nineties cinema. When Juliette Lewis arrived on set and saw the collection, she started to interpret the pieces by creating a character.’
One of the most talked about campaigns of the upcoming season is the one by Balenciaga. Styled by Lotta Volkova Adam and shot in streets of Paris in true paparazzi style, the models in the pictures are shown hiding their faces, as celebrities would do, with designer bags by Balenciaga.
Bottega Veneta has opted for cinematic vibes with its SS18 campaign. The series of images were originally shot as a film by French director Fabien Baron, but were later extracted as a still image for the print campaign. ‘Ultimately,’ Baron says, ‘we wanted to develop a unique visual vocabulary that would reflect the breadth of such a luxury brand.’ Models Vittoria Ceretti, Aube Jolicoeur, Sora Choi and Janis Ancens were cast for the imagery.

The Christopher Kane SS18 campaign was shot by fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan and features Dutch model Kiki Willems. ‘In the campaign, we wanted to look at the idea of interiors, of a closed domestic world, both clean and kinky, and how the Christopher Kane girl would inhabit it. Kiki is the model that personified this collection for us and brought it to life in the campaign; elegant yet cheeky, mysterious and mischievous – she really has it all.’
In the latest campaign of COS, photographer Karim Sadli highlights the serenity of the brand by shooting Dutch model Saskia de Brauw in front of an abstract window and a blurry view of the landscape in the background. The imagery spotlights both the minimalistic designs and the creative side of the COS brand.
When creating the Dior SS18 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by French-American sculptor, painter and filmmaker Niki de Saint Phalle. The campaign, which was photographed by the well known Patrick Dermarchelier and features artist and model Sasha Pivovarova, merges fashion, artwork and feminism.
Continuing their series of campaigns that are directed, styled and sometimes photographed by the starring models, Equipment has selected Mariacarla Boscono to create its latest SS18 campaign. In the imagery, which is partially shot by fashion photographer Alex La Cruz, the Italian supermodel takes you to her favourite spots around Rome – her home town.
Bella Hadid is the face of the Giuseppe Zanotti SS18 campaign. The imagery, which was shot by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, focuses on the brand’s newest ‘Light Jump’ sneaker. ‘This campaign really represents the authentic energy of the brand – modern, sensual, powerful,’ says designer Giuseppe Zanotti. ‘And then there’s Bella, back for a second season, who brings with her a rock-and-roll attitude that’s also playful and seductive. The overall effect is compelling, contemporary, arresting.’
In Givenchy’s latest campaign, which was shot by Steven Meisel, a group of models is lounging in New York mansion. ‘I wanted the models’ attitude to be engaging so I asked them to just be themselves, as they might if they were invited to a party at a friend’s home,’ Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller explains. ‘I think that they really capture the spirit of a generation that loves fashion, but most of all they love making it their own.’
American model Arizona Muse and French model Anaïs Mali are the faces of the new Karen Millen SS18 campaign, in which the brand returns to its roots. The authentic look and feel of Karen Millen is updated with a combination of contemporary yet sophisticated designs, graphics and colours.
Celebrating the brand’s 20th Anniversary, Maje collaborated with three photographers (Mark Peckmezian, Thurstan Redding and Coco Capitan) to create a SS18 campaign that depicts family life, love and friendship. The latter is shown in a shot by Thurstan Redding of Dutch model Yasmin Wijnaldum against a backdrop of the Ouzoud waterfalls.
For its SS18 campaign, footwear brand Miista drew on the childhood memories of designer Laura Villasenin. The imagery of the brand, which is designed in London but made in Spain, is set on the Atlantic coast of Galicia and focuses on the mix of structures - embroidery, crochet and hand woven leathers and colours - blues, yellows and whites in its latest collection.
Models Anja Rubik, Adut Akech and Raquel Zimmerman gather for a rooftop party in the latest Saint Laurent campaign. For the black and white imagery, which was photographed by the duo Inez and Vinoodh, the models were styled by Alastair McKimm in embellished feathered dresses and tuxedo blazers.
Shot by Riccardo Vimercati and starring American model Ava Smith and Brazilian model Bruna Tenório, THE OUTNET’s SS18 campaign focuses on a group of fashion savvy friends. The campaign, which is set in the Malibu mansion that was used in the American drama series Big Little Lies, highlights the key trends and must-have silhouettes of the upcoming season.
Gigi Hadid is one of the faces that are featured in the Valentino SS18 campaign. The monochromatic image of Hadid was shot by Inez & Vinoodh and shows the model with red eye shadow, a red dress with bow on the shoulder and a red studded bag.
