Black Panther has been smashing preconceptions of what it takes to make a blockbuster successful and box office records in the process.
The movie has become the first film since Avatar to top the weekend US box office five weeks in a row and recorded the largest opening weekend for a film that is not a sequel. Now the film adds another record to it’s invisible mantle piece after more than 35 million tweets Black Panther is now officially the most tweeted about movie of all time. In the process the film has surpassed Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the Twitter stakes.
After recording a world-wide box office taking of $1.1 billion, the film which centers around a technologically advanced fictional African state has shattered studio preconceptions that a black dominated cast can not draw in the audiences. Put those figures in your pipe and smoke it, Hollywood bigots!
Starring Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Black Panther’s character’s will next be seen in the Avengers Infinity War along with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Liam Hemsworth’s Thor. Re-appearances from the likes of Letitia Wright and Black Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman is set to boost the film at the box office further.
